Silly putty and other plastic slime toys provide hours of messy fun for children, but when it comes in contact with clothing, it can leave a tough stain. The sticky, slimy texture of putty and other plastic substances can become embedded within the fabric of your child's favorite shirt or pair of pants. Without pre-treatment, placing a stained garment in the wash may spread the slime over other articles. For best results, chip away as much of the slime as possible prior to washing.

1
Place the stained garment in the freezer overnight. This hardens the plastic slime, making it simpler to chip away from the fabric.
-
2
Wedge the blade of a butter knife under the plastic slime stain. Chip away as much of the plastic slime as you can using gentle turns of the knife blade.

3
Saturate a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol. Dab any remains of the stain with the cotton ball, and allow it to saturate and loosen the plastic slime. Scrape off loosened slime with your butter knife.

Apply a pre-wash stain remover to the area, and allow it to penetrate the fabric. Launder the garment as normal.
