How to Get a Water Stain out of a Satin Pillow

If you spilled a glass of water on your satin pillowcase or decorative pillow, it most likely left a dark, unsightly stain on the fabric. Satin, which is a woven blend of silk, nylon or polyester, has a glossy, lustrous surface and a smooth feel. While satin pillows will give your bedroom an elegant, decorative look, they may be hard to keep clean and stain-free. You can remove water and other stains from satin with a few household items.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the satin covering from the pillow by sliding it off or unzipping it. Fill a large bowl with warm water and add a few drops of a gentle laundry detergent. Blend it well to create a cleaning solution.

    • 2

Dip a clean, soft cloth into the soapy water. Blot the cloth onto the water stain gently to saturate the satin fabric. Continue dipping the cloth into the water and blotting at the water stain until it disappears.

    • 3

Immerse the satin pillow cover into cool water to thoroughly rinse it off.

    • 4

Remove the pillow cover from the water and place it on a flat surface in between two absorbent towels to remove the excess water; do not wring out the satin as it may damage the delicate fabric.

    • 5

Lay the satin pillow on a flat surface or hang it to air-dry.
