How to Iron a Sheer Window Scarf

Sheer curtains do not look good if they are wrinkled and unkempt. Many people feel uncomfortable ironing sheers because of the thinness of the fabric. One solution is to steam the sheers in place using a steam machine. However, steaming is often not practical for scarf treatments at the top of tall windows. To create the fluid lines you want when the scarf drapes across the window treatment, use the ironing technique recommended for very fine fabrics.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your sheer curtain scarf across the width of the ironing board.

    • 2

Set your iron to a medium setting with steam. Most irons require you to add water before using this setting and they have a gauge showing how much water is available. Keep a water spritzer bottle handy for light misting.

    • 3

Smooth out the sheer fabric with your hands. Place a cotton pressing sheet over the sheer. A pressing sheet allows you to iron delicate fabrics more easily.

    • 4

Apply steam as you iron the sheer window scarf. Move the panel upward and the pressing sheet downward so that you iron the entire panel. Hang your sheer immediately.
