DIY Folding Clothes With Cardboard

If you are tired of messy drawers and wrinkled clothing, you should be happy to know that you can solve your problems with some scrap cardboard and tape. By cutting cardboard to the right size and arranging the panels in the proper way, you can create a clothes-folding machine that will fold shirts easily and perfectly in just seconds. All your shirts will be folded to the same size so they'll stack evenly in your drawer, which will keep them neat until you're ready to use them.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a cardboard clothes folding machine if you don't have one already. Collect some corrugated cardboard. Use a ruler and pencil to measure and mark two 30-by-12 inch rectangles, a 9-by-12 inch rectangle and a 9-by-18 inch rectangle. Cut out the cardboard rectangles.

    • 2

Assemble your clothes folder. Line the top of one 30-inch-long rectangle with the top of the 12-inch-long rectangle so the top edges are level. Tape the two pieces together. Put the 30-inch-long rectangle on the opposite side of the 12-inch-long rectangle. Line up the top edges so they are even and tape the two pieces together. These two longer sides will act like flaps. You should be able to flip each side over the center piece and back with ease.

    • 3

Place the 18-inch-long rectangle below the 12-inch rectangle. Tape the top of the 18-inch rectangle to the bottom of the 12-inch rectangle. You should be able to flip it up over the 12-inch-long rectangle and back with ease.

    • 4

Place a shirt, front-down, on top of the clothes folding machine. The collar of the shirt should be at the top of the center 9-by-12 inch rectangle. Spread the sleeves out flat so they overlap the 30-inch long rectangles. Spread the bottom out flat as well, overlapping the bottom center rectangle and the two side flaps.

    • 5

Fold the shirt by flipping the left side flap over the center. When you pull the flap back, one side of the shirt will be partly folded over. Flip the right side flap over the center to fold the other side of the shirt. If a sleeve is sticking out past the edge of the shirt, flip the side flap to fold it over.

    • 6

Pick up the bottom center panel and flip it up and over the upper center section. Pull the bottom flap back and you should have a perfectly folded upside-down shirt. Carefully flip it over so it's right-side up.

    • 7

Fold more shirts and stack them on top of each other.
