How to Dry Dress Shirts Without Wrinkles

A collared dress shirt makes preparing for a day at work or any semiformal event quick and simple. However, if your shirt is riddled with wrinkles and creases, you'll need to spend time ironing it. Wrinkles form when a shirt is not allowed to dry thoroughly or is hung in a cramped closet. Folding and placing shirts in dresser drawers can also cause excessive wrinkling. Reduce imperfections in your dress shirts by drying and storing them properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Launder your shirt according to the care tag stitched into the inside of the shirt.

    • 2

Dry the shirt using the heat cycle recommended on the care tag. To combat wrinkling and static buildup during drying, use a fabric softener sheet.

    • 3

Hang the dried shirt on a towel hook or rack in your bathroom. Run a hot bath, and close all windows and doors so that steam begins to accumulate. Let the water run until the bath is at least halfway full.

    • 4

Allow the shirt to hang in the steam-filled bathroom. The humidity will smooth all wrinkles as it hangs.

    • 5

Remove the shirt after 10 to 15 minutes. Hang it where it will not be crowded by other garments.
