Spray the cotton shirt with wrinkle releaser. Hang the shirt in the closet; use a padded hanger to prevent hanger marks on the garment. If you're out of wrinkle releaser, add 2 tablespoons of fabric softener to an 8-ounce spray bottle. Add tap water to the bottle and shake to mix well. Use this product as you would wrinkle releaser. Grasp the fabric and pull the wrinkles out, smoothing the fabric with your hand.
Place one sock fully inside the other to form a ball inside the end. Wet the socks with hot water. Squeeze the socks until the excess moisture comes out. Put the cotton shirt in the dryer with the socks on high heat for 15 minutes. The wet socks will pound out wrinkles.
Mist a cotton shirt with water before you iron to loosen the wrinkles. Set your iron to the cotton setting and press the wrinkles from the shirt. Remove cotton shirts from the dryer when they are slightly damp and iron them. Hang the shirts and point a box fan at them to speed up the drying time.
Hang the cotton shirt so that you can reach all sides. Fill your home-use steamer with distilled water. Turn on the steamer and steam the garment; drag the steamer head over the surface of the shirt until the wrinkles have vanished.
