Laundry Room Ideas for Drying Clothes

Clothesline

• One way to keep the clothing that you don't put in the dryer organized is to hang a clothesline in your laundry room. Attach a cord from one wall to the opposite wall and put plenty of clothespins on it. When you remove clothing from the washer, simply hang them on the clothesline so that they can dry without taking up valuable space.

Drying Bar

• A towel rack can help you to create a space for clothes that need to air-dry. Mount the towel rack on the wall or the bottom of a shelf so that you can use it as a bar to hang hangers. Button-down cotton shirts, in particular, can shrink if they are dried completely in the drier, so take them out and place them on hangers when they are still damp.

Drying Rack

• Some clothes, such as sweaters, can become damaged if you place them on hangers to dry. The heavy fabric can stretch from hanging, so they will need to be placed on a flat surface to dry. Install a drying rack with several shelves so that you have plenty of space for these items. A rack with metal shelving can also work.

Baskets

• If you use your laundry room to fold clothing after it comes out of the dryer, the space can soon become cluttered with stacks of laundry. This is especially true if you don't always put the laundry away immediately. Consider placing baskets on your laundry room shelves for your folded laundry. You can even specify different baskets for different laundry categories, such as towels or the different members of your family. That way, they know where to look for clean laundry.
