Place the doily in the freezer to make sure the wax is solid and no longer has a liquid consistency. This will make it easier to remove in the next step.
Scrape away dry, hardened wax from the doily using a butter knife. Don't attempt to scrape the wax off while it is still soft, since this can cause it to spread and get stuck deeper into the material.
Place paper towels above and below the doily. Push a warm iron against the paper towels to melt the wax and cause it to be absorbed. You may need to repeat this step with fresh paper towels a few times to ensure all wax is removed.
Apply pre-wash treatment to any remaining stains on the doily and let it sit according to the product's directions. If the doily doesn't have washing instructions, it would be safest to hand wash it using hot water and mild detergent. If the doily has washing instructions that allow machine washing, toss the doily in the washer on the hottest setting allowed. Lay flat to dry. Try washing the doily again if any remnants of the stain are still present.
