How to Dry-Clean a Cashmere Blouse at Home

When your favorite cashmere blouse gets stained or starts to look a bit dirty, you check the tag for cleaning instructions and read "Dry-clean only." This does not mean that you need to take the blouse to a professional dry cleaner. Dry-cleaning bills are often expensive, so cut the cost by making your own cheap and effective dry-cleaning kit. A homemade dry-cleaning kit is safe for use on your cashmere blouse and makes your clothes look like new.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a container with a solution of one part laundry detergent to 20 parts water. Fill a spray bottle with the solution.

    • 2

Spray the solution lightly on stains, and then blot the stains with paper towels.

    • 3

Moisten a pillowcase and place the cashmere blouse in it. Sprinkle a bit of essential oil in the pillowcase, if desired. Use essential oil to give your blouse a fresh, clean smell.

    • 4

Put the pillowcase in the dryer. Set the dryer on the tumble cycle and let it run for 20 minutes. Do not use heat; this may damage the cashmere.

    • 5

Hang the blouse on a hanger to complete drying and remove wrinkles.
