How to Get a Smell Out of an Affinity Washing Machine

The Frigidaire Affinity front-loading washing machine was designed to make doing the laundry faster, easier and more convenient. The washing machine boasts a 20-minute completion time for a full cycle and has features to help remove stains and sanitize clothing. As is common with many front-loading models, an unpleasant odor can develop inside the Affinity washing machine due to the growth of mold. You can get the musty smell out of your Affinity washing machine with supplies found around the home.

Instructions

Vinegar naturally kills mold while deodorizing your Affinity washing machine.

Fill your Affinity washing machine with hot water. Add 1 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar to the wash cycle to deodorize the washer, kill mold and clean out the filter.

    • 2

Open the washing machine door after the cycle is complete. Leave the washing machine door open to dry the interior.

    • 3

Pour 1/2 gallon of hot water into a bucket. Add 1/2 cup of bleach.

    • 4

Dip an old toothbrush in the diluted bleach solution. Peel back the rubber seal along the inside of the washing machine door. Scrub between the rubber and the glass with the bleach to kill any remaining mold spores and remove the stains.

    • 5

Soak a sponge with the bleach solution. Wash the rubber seal and around the washing machine door.

    • 6

Rinse the inside of the door with a damp cloth. Dry the surface with another cloth. Prop the door open to allow the interior of the Affinity washing machine to dry out completely.
