How to Add Scented Oils to Laundry Detergent

It’s comforting to pull laundry out of the dryer and smell a clean, fresh aroma, but sometimes the laundry may not smell fresh even after washing and drying. Make your laundry smell fragrant by adding scented oils to the detergent. The best part about adding scented oils to your detergent is that you can customize the scent according to your own personal preference.

    • 3

Add equal parts eucalyptus and peppermint scented oils for a minty scent.

    • 4

Put two parts lemon oil, one part lemongrass oil and one part chamomile oil into the bottle of detergent for a lemon-herb blend.

    • 5

Combine two parts lavender and one part rosemary oil and add it to the detergent for a flowery scent.

    • 6

Add equal parts sweet orange and lemon oil for a citrus smell. Another citrus blend is to mix equal parts tea tree, lemongrass and lemon oils into the detergent.

    • 7

Put 15 to 30 drops of any single scented oil such as lavender, rosemary, vanilla, geranium, lemon or tea tree into the bottle of detergent to achieve that one specific scent.

Put the lid on the bottle of detergent once the oils are added. Shake up the bottle for a minute or two to thoroughly distribute the oils into the detergent.
