Remove any loose threads, fuzz or broken fibers from the garments before laundering. Cut the threads with small scissors or nail clippers instead of pulling them away to prevent causing further damage.
Wash lint creators and lint magnets separately. In other words, launder your towels and sweaters separately from a black hooded sweatshirt or a polyester blouse.
Turn all of your clothing inside-out before laundering. This prevents the lint from landing on the noticeable outer area of the pieces.
Inspect the washer’s metal drum and seal for any loose threads or lint. Wipe down the washer with a damp cloth to remove detergent residue and lint before they transfer onto your clothing.
Use the amount of detergent recommended by the manufacturer for the load’s size. Using an excessive amount of detergent creates a sticky residue on the clothes, allowing lint to adhere more effectively.
Pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar into the machine during the final rinse. The vinegar breaks down the detergent residue that keeps unwanted lint on your clothing.
