How to Get WD-40 Out of Suede

WD-40 has many uses and can even remove crayon stains from clothing. However, once you remove the original stain, the WD-40 might leave its own stain behind. Since you can't throw a suede jacket in the washing machine after using WD-40, a thorough cleaning approach is needed. Many suede jackets come with small bottles of degreasers and cleaners for this purpose. If yours doesn't, you will need to purchase the materials to clean the WD-40 residue from your jacket.

Things You'll Need

• Clothes hanger
• Suede eraser
• Suede brush
• Fine-grit sandpaper
• Suede degreaser
• Washcloth

     Dry the jacket by hanging it on a clothes hanger until the WD-40 stain is no longer wet to the touch.

     Rub the stain lightly with a suede eraser. Don't press into the fabric since this pushes the stain in deeper. Rub lightly at the top of the WD-40 stain until it starts to come off.

     Brush the entire suede jacket with a suede brush. The brush helps to even out the texture of the suede and also removes any remaining WD-40.

     Purchase a suede degreaser if the WD-40 stain remains. Apply the greaser directly to the stain, and blot it out with a dry washcloth.
