Suede is an elegant, durable material that looks and feels luxurious on boots, handbags, coats and other items of clothing and accessories. Suede requires careful cleaning and maintenance to keep it looking brand new because the brushed finish is vulnerable to moisture, dirt and oil or grease from the environment. If your favorite suede boots or handbag has a grease spot, clean it off using baking soda. The baking soda absorbs the grease as well as deodorizes the item, leaving your suede looking and smelling fresh and new.

1
Blot the grease spot on the suede with clean paper towels. Remove as much grease as possible to allow the baking soda to work more effectively. Do not rub the spot or you will work the grease further into the suede and spread the stain.

2
Lay the suede item flat and sprinkle the baking soda over the spot, making sure to cover the spot completely. Leave the baking soda to soak in overnight.
