How to Get Spilled Perfume Out of Wooden Cabinets

Perfumes that are kept in wood cabinets may accidentally be spilled. The perfume will begin to seep into the wood if it is not promptly removed. When spilled perfume goes unnoticed and is not cleaned right away, alcohol spots will begin to appear on the surface of the wood cabinet. Homeowners will then need to attack the alcohol spots to get the wood cabinets back to their original state.

Instructions

    • 1

Set a few paper towels over the spilled perfume and gently press down. The paper towels will absorb a good amount of the spilled perfume, if the spill just occurred. Place the perfume-infused paper towels in the trash.

    • 2

Mix 2 tablespoons of cigarette ash with 1 teaspoon of mineral oil. Spread the resulting paste over the spot on the wood cabinet where the perfume spill took place.

    • 3

Rub the paste with an old rag, being sure to go with grain of the wood. Continue for a total of 30 seconds.

    • 4

Clean the surface of the wood with a white rag that has been dipped in ammonia. Wipe again with a dry cloth.

    • 5

Wipe a small amount of linseed oil over the area that was stained with perfume, and then apply a new coat of wax to the area to bring it back to its original luster.
