How to Get Rid of Bad Odors if Something Died in My Wall

When exterminating rodents in your home, there's always the chance that one will die inside the walls. Since opening up the wall isn't the most cost-efficient solution, riding out the odor, during the decaying and decomposition process, is often the chosen path. Fresh air is vital to getting rid of dead animal odor.

Open windows throughout the house each day until the odor is gone. If it's cold outside, open the windows for 10 minutes each hour to allow fresh air to circulate.

Position electric fans about 4 feet from the window, with the fan facing the window. When the windows are open, run the fans to draw the odor outside.

Fill a cooking pot with water. Slice an orange into quarters and place it in the water. Add six whole cloves and a pinch of ground cinnamon.

Cinnamon is a natural odor absorber.

Simmer the ingredients in the pan whenever the windows must be closed. Replenish the water, as needed, to allow the scent to waft through the house by way of the steam.
