How to Get Pledge Off of a Wood Floor

Although Pledge is effective at shining your furniture, it also can leave a residue on your wood floors. Not only does the residue dull their sheen, it also can make some wood flooring extremely slippery. Protect your floors and prevent dangerous falls by removing Pledge buildup with a cleaner that is effective and safe.

Instructions

  1. White Vinegar

    • 1

Mix 1 gallon of hot water with 2 cups of white vinegar in a clean bucket.

    • 2

Dip your mop into the bucket, and wring it out to remove excess moisture. Too much moisture left on a wood floor can damage its finish.

    • 3

Mop the affected area of the floor. You can clean the entire floor with this solution as well, if you wish.

    • 4

Dry the floor with a lint-free cloth.

    Tea Bags

    • 5

Place 1 or 2 tea bags in a quart of boiling water for five minutes.

    • 6

Remove the pot from the stove, and allow the tea to cool to room temperature.

    • 7

Dip a soft cloth into the tea, and wring it out well to get rid of extra moisture.

    • 8

Wipe the floor, rinsing your cloth often.

    • 9

Dry and buff the floor using a lint-free cloth.
