DIY Electronic Parts Cleaner

The surfaces and parts of electronic products often attract dust and need to be cleaned regularly to maintain performance. Otherwise, dust permeating the inner workings of your electronics can cause damage that will be costly to repair or replace. You can use formulas specialized for cleaning electronics, yet these sprays can get expensive. Instead, consider creating your own safe and effective cleaners from natural, household products.

Dust off the surface with a clean microfiber cloth. Microfiber cloths, unlike rags or cloths, trap dust within its fibers instead of spreading it around, according to DIY Life. Microfiber cloths can be found in electronics stores, or one may be included with the purchase of your electronics.

Soak the tip of a foam cotton swab with water and isopropyl alcohol. Clean the nooks and crannies of electronic devices, such as between computer keys and other openings.

    • 3

Mix 2 teaspoons of white vinegar and 1 quart of water in a spray bottle. Spray on the surfaces of you electronics and wipe it off with either a clean microfiber cloth or a clean recycled newspaper. Recycled newspaper, unlike cloths, will prevent streaking.
