Prepare the surface of the silver for treatment by lightly soaping and rinsing the silverware. Dry the silverware using a soft cotton cloth.
Line a large baking dish with aluminum foil. Place the silverware carefully on the foil. Apply two teaspoons of soap powder to the silver.
Heat six cups of water on the stove till it reaches a steady boil boiling. Pour the prepared water into the baking dish, submerging the silverware.
Use a pair of tongs to move the silver so that each section comes in contact with the foil. The foil will blacken through an exchange of ions and clean the silver.
Remove the silver with tongs and allow it to cool down on a soft cotton cloth.
