How to Shampoo Carpet With Kirby Legend 2 Vac

The Kirby Legend 2 vacuum comes with a shampoo attachment that dispenses warm shampoo foam to help loosen and clean debris embedded in your carpet. Shampooing can help extend the life and look of your carpet. The Kirby Legend 2 makes shampooing your carpet relatively simple and over time, can be more cost-effective than renting carpet-shampoo machines.

Instructions

  Move any furniture out of the way and vacuum the area you want to shampoo with the Kirby Legend 2 vacuum. Pull out the vacuum head and release the belt by matching the belt knob with the arrows.

  Match the red arrows on the knob with the shampoo attachment. Step on the "Raise/Lower" switch and insert the shampoo attachment onto the Kirby. Turn the knob to match the green arrows.

  Add warm water and the recommended amount of shampoo, based on the shampoo bottle instructions, to the shampoo tank. Connect the top of the shampoo attachment to the right side of the vacuum. Use the hose to connect the shampoo tank to the collection tray.

  Turn on the the Kirby vacuum and turn the knob on top of the shampoo tank until you see foam being dispensed. Move the vacuum slowly back and forth on your carpet to dispense the shampoo foam evenly. Let the shampoo sit for about five minutes and then turn the shampoo knob to the "Off" position.

  Move the Kirby vacuum backwards to pull up the shampoo from the carpet. Liquid starts to fill the collection tray and it may be grayish in color if the carpet hasn't been shampooed for a while.

  Empty your Kirby's collection tray when finished and allow the carpet to dry for two to three hours.
