How to Clean Burnt Food Off a Cooktop

Perhaps you let your attention wander from your cooking or you turned the heat up a little high. Now your cooktop has food stuck on it. For the most effectiveness in cleaning the burnt food off, clean the stain as soon as possible. If the food wasn't wiped away immediately and is burnt on the surface, remove it with some natural solutions.

Instructions

    • 1

Scrape large food stains with a razor blade to lift the majority of the mess. Come at the mess from an angle and be careful not to scratch the surface.

    • 2

Wet the burnt food with warm water.

    • 3

Sprinkle baking soda on the spot generously. Allow the baking soda and water to sit for five minutes.

    • 4

Scrub the food to lift it from the surface. Most, if not all, should be removed after you scrub.

    • 5

Add another layer of baking soda and spritz some lemon juice on the area if you weren't able to get the food off on your first try. Let it sit for approximately five minutes before scrubbing. The lemon juice works with the baking soda to remove the stain.
