How to Get Eraser Stains off Paint on the Walls

If a child has decided to embellish your wall with a little drawing, your first instinct could be to use an eraser to remove it. This can make the problem worse, though, as a dirty eraser can smudge a wall. A pristine eraser and some baking soda can remove the the smudge and return your wall to its original condition.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase an art-gum eraser, and rub it lightly over the smudge to remove it from the wall. Continue rubbing carefully with the eraser until the smudge is gone. Stop rubbing before you remove any paint or make the smudge worse.

    • 2

Mix baking soda and water in a dish to make a thick paste. Dip a wet cleaning cloth in the paste.

    • 3

Apply the paste gently to the wall over the remaining eraser stain. Rub gently to remove the smudge but not the paint.

    • 4

Wipe away any remaining baking soda paste from the wall with the damp cloth.
