# How to Get VCT Tile to Shine
Vinyl composition tile has become popular for flooring in private homes as well as public areas. VCT is durable and easy to care for. Commercial maintenance crews have heavy equipment to keep their VCT floors shiny, but regular maintenance and polishing are all you need to keep VCT flooring shining.
Things You'll Need
- Broom
- Mop
- Floor cleaner
- VCT stripping solution
- Floor buffer
- Scrubbing disc
- VCT floor sealer
- VCT floor polish

Sweep the floor to remove dust and dirt.

Damp mop the VCT tile using your regular VCT floor cleaner. Allow the floor to dry thoroughly before continuing.

Scrub the floor using a VCT stripping solution. Dilute the stripper according to the package directions. Use a floor buffer with one scrubbing disc. You can rent these machines from your local home improvement supply store.

Remove the cleaning solution with a dry mop or a wet/dry vacuum cleaner. Rinse the floor with clean water, and allow it to air-dry.

Apply a VCT floor sealer to the floor. Follow the manufacturer's instructions, as each brand can vary slightly in application directions.

Apply at least three coats of VCT floor polish according to the manufacturer's instructions.
