Load large items like plastic cutting boards on the top shelf so they don't block the condensation vent, causing water to leak from the door.
Load plates and bowls so they face the center, which allows the water jets direct contact with the dirty side of the dishes.
Set utensils in the utensil tray with the knives pointing down, so nobody gets cut, and the rest of the utensils pointing up. Vary how the utensils are inserted so that one section isn't full of spoons and another full of forks. This causes the utensils to nest together and they won't get as clean.
Put glasses, cups and mugs on the top rack. Take advantage of the angled racks so the tops of the mugs don't hold water after the dishwasher is finished.
Place plastic on the top rack of the dishwasher so it is furthest away from the heating element. If you have small plastic items, secure them between spokes on the top rack so they can't flip around and fall onto a heating element below.
