How to Get Something That Burned in a Crock Pot Clean

A crock pot, or slow cooker, is a time-saver for meal preparation. Toss the ingredients into the crock in the morning, turn up the heat, and enjoy a hot meal that evening. The long cooking time in the crock pot can result in burned on food or crusty residue on the inside of the crock. It must be cleaned thoroughly and carefully so it doesn't chip or crack, but the process doesn't require a lot of scrubbing or effort if done properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the crock liner from the crock pot. Set it on a trivet and allow it to cool down completely before washing. Adding water to a hot crock liner can cause it to crack or break.

    • 2

Fill the crock with warm water. Add two to three squirts of liquid dish washing detergent to the water. Soak the crock for 20 minutes.

    • 3

Scrub the interior of the crock pot with a nylon dish scrubber or other mildly abrasive scrubber. Do not use wire scrubbing pads or harsh abrasives.

    • 4

Rinse the crock pot liner with clear water. Finish washing by hand as usual or place the liner in the dishwasher if recommended by the manufacturer.
