How to Get Mud Off of Vinyl-Coated Walls

Vinyl-coated walls are walls or partitions made of gypsum drywall and covered with vinyl. They are more durable than regular drywall and don't require painting. Vinyl-coated walls are most often used in commercial settings, such as schools and offices. Vacuum or wipe them down regularly, depending on the pattern and finish, and treat stains, such as mud, food or pen, quickly for best results. Install heavy-duty floor mats at entryways to minimize mud problems, especially in school settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Gently brush or scrape mud solids off the wall with a brush or butter knife. Avoid rubbing the mud, which will push it further into the vinyl.

    • 2

Blot any wet mud stains with a paper towel. Spray the vinyl wall with a gentle all-purpose household cleaner. Wait two minutes and blot again. Using a clean area of the paper towel, continue to blot until the stain is gone.

    • 3

Run a fan to dry the vinyl wall quickly.
