How to Remove Mildew From a Steel Faucet

Constant moisture can become a breeding ground for mildew. If your steel faucet has mildew growing on it, chances are it is near the bottom near where water often collects. You easily can remove and kill mildew from a steel surface with a little bit of bleach. To prevent mildew from growing again, be careful not to get the faucet area sopping wet and if you do, dry it off with a towel or rag.

Instructions

    • 1

Dry the faucet area with paper towels. Drying the surface allows you to spray the bleach solution directly onto the mildew.

    • 2

Mix approximately 1/2 cup of bleach with 1 quart of water to make a bleach solution effective in removing mold. You also can use a non-abrasive household or bathroom cleaner spray that contains bleach.

    • 3

Spray the bleach solution or cleaner on the steel faucet where the mildew is located.

    • 4

Use paper towels to wipe off the mildew after 15 minutes. If it doesn't come off easily, scrub the faucet with a nylon scrub brush and wipe with a wet paper towel.

    • 5

Dry the faucet with a rag or towel to avoid spotting and to prevent mildew from growing again.
