Can You Wash a Teak Salad Bowl?

A teak salad bowl, because it is made from wood, is susceptible to water damage, and the water can even soak into the bowl, promoting mold and bacterial growth. Although it's not acceptable to soak a teak salad bowl, or any wooden bowl in water, it's still necessary to wash the bowl to remove food and other residue, which can also cause bacterial growth. Washing the bowl simply means keeping it as dry as possible while removing any traces of food or residue and drying it immediately so that the water doesn't have time to soak into the wood.
