Instructions

    • 1

Clean the drain area by removing any potential clogging culprits, such as food or loose strands of hair. Remove the drain cover and use sewer tape to remove any excess clogs. Alternatively, a straightened wire hanger may be used to scoop any remaining hair or food from the inside of the drain. Run water to see if the drain is still clogged. If so, wipe the area dry with a towel.

    • 2

Measure 3/4 cup of baking soda in a measuring cup. Pour the baking soda down the drain.

    • 3

Pour 1/2 cup of vinegar down the drain following the baking soda. This will create a chemical reaction that will begin to foam and rise to the top of the drain. Cover the drain with a cloth to keep the solution down.

    • 4

Allow the solution to set for 30 minutes. After 15 minutes, you may remove the cloth.

    • 5

Boil six cups of water. After 30 minutes, slowly pour the water down the drain to wash out the mixture of vinegar and baking soda.

    • 6

Run the faucet with warm water to make sure the clog is removed. If not, repeat the process.
