How to Remove Burnt Food From an Enameled Ceramic Pot

Manufacturers of enameled ceramic pots claim they are scratch resistant, nontoxic, and safe for the dishwasher, oven, stove top, broiler, microwave and freezer. Since they are scratch resistant, metal utensils are safe to use to stir food while cooking in them, and you can use abrasive cleaning pads to clean them. This is good news when burnt food sticks to your enameled ceramic pot, as you may need to pull out abrasive cleaning pads and products to clean it completely.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a sink with hot water and a few drops of a mild liquid detergent and allow the pot to soak in the water for about 20 minutes.

    • 2

Scrub the pan with steel wool or another heavy-duty scrub sponge until all of the burnt food is removed from the pot.

    • 3

Sprinkle a powder cleaner evenly on the burnt food to remove tough pieces. Scrub the cleaner in a circular motion into the pot with the sponge or steel wool until all of the burnt food is removed from the pot.

    • 4

Boil 1 part vinegar with 4 parts vinegar in the pot for about five minutes to remove any leftover burnt food. Allow the pot to cool until you can handle it. Scrub off the rest of the burnt on pieces.
