How to Deal With Long Hair All Over the Carpet

Whether you personally have long hair, or you own long-haired pets, you are bound to find a considerable amount of hair on the carpets in your home. Unlike hardwood floors, hair builds up on the carpet instead of traveling to the corners of the room for easy pick-up. Rather than spending all day picking at the carpet, use a high-powered vacuum cleaner designed for pet-hair pick up; these vacuums usually have a thick brush bar to pick up the hair. This tool removes all the long hairs off your carpet as quickly as possible, making your floors look cleaner and brighter.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug in your vacuum cleaner and install the brush bar or pet hair attachment for effective hair removal.

    • 2

Begin vacuuming up the long hairs. Move the vacuum back and forth over the areas with the most hair, to suck all the hair into the container.

    • 3

Empty the canister after vacuuming each room. If you have a lot of long hair on the carpet, empty the canister frequently so your vacuum doesn’t get clogged. Also, flip the vacuum upside down and use your hands to pull any long hairs out of the brush bar, so it can pick up hair better.

Continue vacuuming the floors until the vacuum doesn’t pick up any more hairs. Switch the vacuum attachment to a crevice tool, so you can get into the cracks between the walls and the carpet, and suck up the hairs the vacuum didn’t pick up.
