Fill a small container with 1/2 cup of white vinegar and mix in 1 teaspoon of salt. Put on a pair of gloves to protect your hands from germs while cleaning.
Dip a cloth into the vinegar mixture and apply it to the brass toilet hinges. Lift the seat and lid to gain access to all parts of the hinges.
Dip an old, soft toothbrush into the vinegar mixture. Scrub the brass hinges thoroughly with the toothbrush to reach any small spaces.
Rinse the brass toilet seat hinges with a clean, wet cloth. Dry the hinges as much as possible with a soft cloth. Allow the hinges to air-dry completely.
