Open any windows in the room and arrange fans around the space. Direct the fans toward the open windows. The fans pull the odor from the room and push the smell outside, which helps reduce the bad smell you experience around the walls.
Place an absorbent filter, such as one that uses charcoal, inside an air cleaner and set the air cleaner in the room, near the smelly wall. The cleaner pulls in air, which goes through the filter, and sends fresh air into the surrounding space.
Sprinkle a powdered odor neutralizer on the carpet surrounding the wall. Let the product sit for several hours and then vacuum the powder. Spray a liquid odor neutralizer in the room. The products neutralize the bad smells.
Mix one cup of bleach and one gallon of water together in a plastic bucket. While wearing rubber gloves, rub the solution on the walls with a sponge. Rub damp cloths over the wall, wiping off the bleach. The bleach cleans and disinfects the wall, removing any smells clinging to the paint or drywall.
Spray the room with a room deodorizer, or use a plug-in room deodorizer that plugs into an electrical outlet. The deodorizer releases a light scent into the surrounding room, which helps cover and mask the smell inside the walls.
