How to Clean Brushed Bronze Fixtures

Metal fixtures for the sink, tub and shower are available in many finishes, including brushed bronze. Brushed bronze fixtures, in general, are not as readily available as they once were because they are being replaced with oil-rubbed bronze fixtures. Regardless, you can clean and treat your brushed bronze fixtures in the same manner as you would other metallic fixtures but read your user's manual first for any recommendations from the manufacturer.

Instructions

    • 1

Spray a non-abrasive cleaner, such as a bathroom or all-purpose spray, on your brushed bronze fixtures. Do not use rubbing alcohol or any solvents on the fixtures unless specified by the manufacturer.

    • 2

Wipe down the fixtures with a soft rag or sponge. Avoid abrasive scouring pads, which may scratch the brushed bronze.

    • 3

Rinse the brushed bronze fixtures with a wet rag. Repeat several times to remove all of the cleaner residue.

    • 4

Dry the brushed bronze fixture with a rag. This prevents water spots and mold from forming.

    • 5

Protect the finish with a thin layer of car wax. This step is optional, but according to Moen, a large manufacturer of metal faucets, wax helps preserve the finish.
