How to Clean an Infant Swing

An infant swing offers your baby a soothing, entertaining place where he can relax and watch the world, before settling into a deep sleep. And, like most activities or locations your baby frequents, his swing dirties easily. Convertible swing models that turn into feeding chairs and car seats easily collect splashes of spit up and stray drips of nasal mucus. Cleaning your baby's swing keeps him comfortable and reduces the risk of contaminating other children who touch or use the swing.

Remove the eating tray and padded cloth interior from the swing. Breaking down your baby's swing allows you to clean the area more thoroughly and efficiently.

    • 2

Spray a mild chemical-free cleanser inside the seat and around the edges. Let the cleanser sit for 15 seconds before wiping it away with a dry paper towel. Your infant's skin and internal systems are very delicate, making a chemical-free cleanser the safest option.

Wipe down the inside of the seat and edges using a wet paper towel. Soak the paper towel in clean, cool water and massage it over the entire plastic surface area. The wet towel removes any cleanser residue. Absorb any remaining water with a clean, dry paper towel.

Wash the cloth pad in a gentle laundry cycle and hang dry. Never use bleach or fabric softeners as these irritate your baby's sensitive skin.
