Grasp the fly swatter in your dominant hand.
Locate a fly by following its sound. The quick beating of its wings creates a recognizable humming sound. Once you have spotted the fly, try to follow it with your eyes until it lands.
Approach the fly slowly when it lands on a flat surface, away from people, food or breakable items.
Move the swatter into position no less than a foot above the fly.
Swat the fly using the fly swatter using a quick snap of your wrist to propel the swatter toward your target. If you miss, wait for the fly to land in a safe place and try again.
Clean up the dead fly with a paper towel or other means without using your hands. Flys are known carriers of many diseases.
