How to Clean Rusty Water Marks in a Tub Surround

Orange oil-based cleaner products are effective at removing rusty stains and rusty watermarks from bathtub surround surfaces. White distilled vinegar or lemon juice, both of which are mild acids, also are effective for removing rust stains. For heavier scrubbing power, make your own nontoxic, homemade citrus cleaning product using common household ingredients.

• 1/2 cup salt
• 1/2 cup grapefruit juice
• Bowl
• Spoon
• Soft scrubber sponge

     Combine 1/2 cup salt and 1/2 cup grapefruit juice in a bowl and mix well.

     Scrub the rust stain with a sponge and a liberal amount of the grapefruit and salt solution. Move the sponge in a circular motion around the rust.

     Rinse the area with water. Repeat the previous steps if necessary. Rinse again and remove all salt and grapefruit residue.
