How to Fix Drip Marks on Dark Wallpaper

Dark wallpaper adds a striking touch to a traditionally furnished room or a room designed after the Victorian aesthetic, but drips of water and wallpaper paste can ruin the look. Dark wallpaper is unfortunately also prone to pale or burnished spots after an improper cleaning. To maintain the look of your dark wallpaper and to keep it looking as good as it did the day it was hung, clean it thoroughly and appropriately using the correct methods.

Instructions

  1. Wallpaper Paste Drips

    • 1

Hold a paper towel over the wallpaper paste drip.

    • 2

Wet the paper towel lightly with a spray cleaner. Do not allow the cleaner to drip down the wallpaper itself.

    • 3

Hold the paper towel in place for 10 minutes.

    • 4

Remove the paper towel from the wallpaper.

    • 5

Dab the drip of wallpaper paste gently with a clean cloth until it is gone. Do not rub the wallpaper, as this can cause a raw spot to develop.

    • 6

Apply a small amount of dough-like wallpaper cleaner to the spot affected.

    • 7

Leave the wallpaper cleaner on the wall for the length of time recommended on the packaging. This varies from product to product.

    • 8

Remove the bulk of the cleaner from the wall with your fingers.

    • 9

Brush away the remaining crumbs on the wall using a soft brush.
