How to Clean Out My Fisher & Paykel Dryer Front

Proper cleaning is key to keeping a Fisher & Paykel dryer looking and smelling fresh. With daily wear and tear, the front of a dryer may become grimy. Oil from hands combined with dirt from the air and lint from the laundry sometimes form a film. While the majority of the dryer is in reach for regular cleaning, the small areas behind and around the door may be more difficult to access.
  1. Remove the Door

    • The spots that are likely to gather dirt and debris on a Fisher Paykel dryer are the areas that are the hardest to reach. The door of the dryer blocks the small strip along the side where the hinges are located, thus making it difficult to reach. Solve this issue by removing the door. Lift open the dryer door and grasp it with one hand. With the other hand, use a small rubber mallet or similar device to tap upward on the door from underneath, close to the base. Gently pull the door up and out. The snap-in hinges will release and the door will come off. After cleaning, align the hinges and snap it back into place.

    Lint-free Cloth

    • For general cleaning of a Fisher & Paykel dryer front, use a lint-free cloth. Dampen the cloth slightly and wipe down the areas including the door. Avoid using laundry or dish detergents for exterior cleaning. Glass cleaners are not recommended. If one spot is particularly dirty, rub it in a circular motion with slight pressure to clean. Areas where the door latches into place may also be subject to excessive dirt and lint if the machine is not cleaned regularly. Focus on these areas and replace the rag if it becomes excessively soiled.

    The Drum

    • During regular laundering, stains may develop on the drum of the dryer. While the door is off for regular cleaning, take care of any stains. Mix a few drops of laundry detergent in a cup of water and mix. Dampen a lint-free or cotton cloth with the mixture and rub the stain in a circular motion. Rinse with a clean, damp rag. Afterwards, replace the door and place wet, clean towels in the dryer. Run through a regular drying cycle.

    Prevention

    • Typically, the best cleaning method for a Fisher & Paykel dryer is prevention. Avoid placing detergents or other cleaning products that may leak on top of the unit. Do not pre-treat clothing around the dryer. Pre-treaters may cause stains on the exterior that will not come off with regular cleaning. Place only clean clothing in or on the dryer itself. Cover the top and sides with old towels or sheets if storing any items on or around the dryer.
