Fill a bucket with 1 quart of warm water.
Add 1 teaspoon of bleach-free dish soap, 1 teaspoon of Borax powder and ¼ cup of white vinegar.
Mix the ingredients well so that the Borax powder dissolves completely.
Put 2 gallons of hot water into a bucket.
Add ½ cup of trisodium phosphate to the water.
Stir the mixture well until the TSP is completely dissolved.
Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of cool water.
Add 2 cups of household ammonia.
Stir the ammonia and water solution to thoroughly mix the ingredients.
Wipe the painted walls and the baseboards with a feather duster or use a vacuum cleaner brush attachment to remove the loose dust.
Fill a bucket with plain warm water for rinsing. Submerge a clean sponge in the homemade cleaning solution of your choice. Wring out the sponge so that it is not soaking wet.
Start at the top of the wall and work your way toward the baseboards. Wipe a large section of the wall -- about one-quarter of the entire wall -- with the damp sponge. Rinse the sponge in the cleaning solution frequently to avoid applying dirt back onto the walls.
Rinse that section of the wall promptly with a clean sponge and the clean water. Dry that section with a clean towel as soon as it has been rinsed.
Repeat this process until all the walls have been cleaned. Wipe down the baseboards with the sponge and cleaning mixture to clean away any dirty drips from the walls.
