How to Dry and Clean Flasks

Thermos flasks and hip flasks provide a discreet way to carry and drink your own hot beverages or alcohol while on the move. If you regularly use a flask, you must keep it clean to prevent stains and bacteria from accumulating. These stains and bacterial deposits can spoil the taste of your drink and harm your health. If your flask is not dishwasher-safe, you must carefully hand-clean and dry it. This will safeguard your health and keep your flask well-functioning for many years to come.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare a cleaning solution by filling your flask with warm water. Add 1 tsp. of liquid soap and 2 tbsp. of vinegar. Alternatively, fill the flask with boiling water and add 3 tsp. of bicarbonate of soda. The soap helps to clean the flask, while the vinegar and bicarbonate of soda remove residual stains and unpleasant odors.

    • 2

Put the lid onto the flask and shake it for about three minutes to ensure that the cleaning solution reaches all areas.

    • 3

Remove the stopper. Allow the mixture to stay in the flask overnight or for 12 hours. Dump out the mixture. Rinse the flask thoroughly under running tap water to remove all traces of the cleaning solution.

    • 4

Air-dry the flask by keeping the lid open until it is completely dry. Alternatively, wipe the inside of the flask with a soft, cotton cloth or set a hair dryer at a low temperature and point the nozzle at the mouth of the flask until the inside is dry.
