A plastic food scraper can remove some wax buildup from laminate floors effectively, especially if the wax is still fresh. Scoop up wax wherever you find it, and then clean your floor using a mild liquid detergent and warm water. This will remove any excess dirt or wax after you loosen the buildup. If the wax does not budge, use a hair dryer to loosen it. Never use a metal scraper on a laminate floor, as sharp metal devices may scratch the laminate surface.
Mix equal parts white vinegar and water. Use only white vinegar, also called distilled vinegar, because it contains the weakest acidic concentration and therefore will not harm your laminate surface the way that stronger vinegars can. Apply the solution to a mop or a soft cloth and wipe the laminate surface in one single direction. Do not rub vigorously and do not wipe in circular motions. Rinse with warm water.
A combination of 3 parts baking soda and 1 part water can create a thick but effective baking soda paste. Apply this paste to a soft cloth and gently wipe away at the wax buildup, moving in one direction until the wax dissolves. Never use an abrasive cloth, as laminate can easily scratch. When the wax buildup dissolves, wipe away the leftover residue with a damp cloth.
Commercial glass cleaners contain ammonia, a natural chemical compound that dissolves stubborn deposits. Unfortunately, this powerful compound may also wear away at certain sealants, so use ammonia-based glass cleaners only for gentle spot treatments. Spray a small area, wipe with a damp cloth and rinse with water. Due to the corrosive quality of ammonia, save this method as a last resort.
