How to Clean a Tumbled Stone Kitchen Backsplash

Tumbled stone is made from one of several natural stones, such as limestone, marble, travertine or slate. Tumbled stone is a durable surface suitable for kitchen backsplashes. It is made in such a way that the tiles look both natural and rustic. To keep your tumbled stone backsplash in pristine condition and easy to clean, apply a natural stone sealer after installation.

Instructions

    • 1

Use a rag or sponge to clean your tumbled stone backsplash. Do not use anything abrasive, such as steel wool, that can damage the finish.

    • 2

Rinse out the rag or sponge with warm water and wipe down the backsplash. Start at the top and work your way to the bottom where the backsplash meets the countertop. Do this immediately after a splatter or spill.

    • 3

Clean your tumbled stone backsplash with a natural stone cleaner specifically labeled for that type of stone. Never use vinegar, lemon juice, bleach, ammonia, a steam cleaner or an all-purpose cleaner on natural stone. Use the stone cleaner per the manufacturer's instructions. Spray the cleaner directly onto the tumbled stone surface and wipe it down with a clean rag or sponge.
