How to Clean Tiles With Blue Dawn

Dawn is a liquid dish washing detergent that is most notable for its blue color. It's mild enough to clean many household surfaces, including bathtubs, showers and tiles. If you forego the expensive tile cleaners, Dawn or another mild dish washing detergent could save you money. When using Dawn, choose the cleaning method or mixture that best meets your situation.

Squirt two or three drops of Dawn on a wet sponge or rag. Scrub tiles that are greasy or contain hard-to-remove stains. Rinse the rag or sponge well and wipe the tiles clean to rinse. Rinse several times until all the Dawn, grease and debris are removed.

Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm to hot water and add 2 tablespoons of Dawn. You can also add 2 tablespoons of Borax for a more effective cleaning solution. Use this mixture to clean the tiles with a rag, mop or sponge. Rinse well with water after cleaning.

Shine dull tiles with equal parts Dawn and Epsom salt. Dab the mixture on a sponge or rag and scrub the surface clean. Test the mixture in an inconspicuous area to be sure you don't damage the tiles in the process. Rinse well with water.
