# How to Make Bleach Neutralizer
If your household is like most, at least one bottle of bleach sits in your arsenal of cleaning supplies. Bleach sanitizes and removes stains, making it a useful chemical for household cleaning. Despite the benefits of bleach, it can be quite damaging to fabrics if used in excess or inappropriately, irreparably discoloring and even breaking down fabrics. In order to counteract the damaging effects of bleach, neutralize the liquid.
Things You'll Need
- Sodium thiosulfate
- Sodium metabisulfite
- 3 percent hydrogen peroxide
- Water
- Protective clothing, gloves and goggles
- Bucket
Instructions

Sodium Thiosulfate

Put on protective clothing, gloves and goggles.

Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water.

Mix 1 ounce of sodium thiosulfate into the water.
Sodium Metabisulfite

Put on protective clothing, gloves and goggles.

Fill a bucket with 2.5 gallons of warm water.

Add 1 teaspoon of sodium metabisulfite to the water.
Hydrogen Peroxide

Put on protective clothing, gloves and goggles.

Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water.

Pour 1 cup of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide into the water.
