What Can You Do to Take Off Discoloration From Around the Burner on a Stainless Steel Stove?

Stainless steel is "stainless" because of a thin, protective layer of chromium oxide that forms on its surface when oxygen combines with chromium in the steel. When contaminates, such as dirt, grease and dust, gather on the surface and prevent oxygen from combining with the chromium, corrosion takes place and discoloration results. It is important to keep stainless steel clean to prevent discoloration; however, there are a variety of products on the market that will restore discolored stainless steel back to its original condition.
