How to Clean Dust & Dirt From an Air Jetted Hot Tub

Keeping the jets free of dust, dirt and other buildup should be part of your regular hot tub maintenance schedule. Clean jets will last longer and perform better, in addition to being more sanitary for the people using the hot tub. A simple clean water cycle run periodically when the tub stands unused for extended periods of time will keep dust out of the jets, but heavier cleaning is required to remove caked-on dirt and grime left by regular use and the use of oil-based additives or bubble baths.

Instructions

    • 1

Clean the tub interior with a nonabrasive cleaner to remove any soap scum or other grime. Rinse well.

    • 2

Fill a bucket with warm water and a sprinkle of low-sudsing dishwasher detergent. Use a bottle brush to manually scrub what portions of the jets are accessible.

    • 3

Fill tub with warm water so water level rests above the jets.

    • 4

Add in 1/4 cup of low-sudsing dishwasher detergent and 1/4 cup household bleach.

    • 5

Turn off the air induction on your model.

    • 6

Turn on the air jets and allow them to run for about 15 minutes.

    • 7

Rinse by draining the warm water out of the tub and refilling with fresh cold water. Run jets for an additional 15 minutes.

    • 8

Drain water out of the tub.
