Pour 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice into a 32-ounce spray bottle. If you want to fill up the spray bottle even more, double or triple the amounts -- keeping the same proportions.
Close the bottle tightly, and shake it to mix the two ingredients.
Dampen a clean sponge with water. Spray the baking soda and lemon juice solution on the sponge until it is saturated. Then spray the mixture directly onto the moldy area of the wood. Direct contact between the lemon juice and the mold makes the removal process more effective.
Scrub the mold off the wood with the sponge. Use a powerful scrubbing motion to make sure the baking soda and lemon juice spray thoroughly seeps into the wood and removes the mold. Continue scrubbing with different areas of the sponge, until all mold is removed.
Pour 1 tablespoon of olive oil onto a clean, dry cloth. Apply the olive oil to the area where you just scrubbed. Massage the oil into the wood with the cloth, so that the surface does not become overly dry from the scrubbing. Olive oil -- or vegetable oil, in a pinch -- helps restore the natural shine and moisture of wood.
