How to Clean a Brinkman Smoker Firebox

Brinkman smoker fireboxes are constructed from heavy-duty steel and designed to fit Brinkman gas or charcoal grills. After a season of use, your Brinkman smoker firebox may be filled with ash, small chunks of cooked meat and even mold. Before you store your Brinkman smoker firebox for the winter or pull it out for the barbeque season, clean it properly to protect your family against possible bacteria and mold exposure.

Instructions

    • 1

Slip on a pair of work gloves before opening the smoker’s side access panel to remove the remaining ash. Use a small shovel to remove the ash, small chunks of meat or other objects in the smoker’s bottom.

    • 2

Open the smoker’s lid and remove the wire cooking grate. Place the grate on a piece of newspaper and wipe it down with a paper towel. If the grate is very dirty, use a plastic scrub brush to gently remove the excess grime or sludge. Spray the grate with a thin layer of cooking spray and set it aside.

Cover the inside your Brinkman smoker firebox with a thin coating of oven cleaner. Close the lid and allow the over cleaner to sit for at least two to three hours. Wipe down the inside of the smoker firebox with a paper towel to remove the oven cleaner and built-up grease.

Spray a light coating of cooking spray on the inside of the smoker firebox, replace the grate and store or use the unit as needed.
