Dish washing detergent is safe and effective for cleaning saltillo tiles.

Fill a bucket with 1 gallon warm water. Add 1/2 teaspoon of dishwashing detergent. Stir the ingredients to make a soapy solution.

    • 2

Saturate a soft sponge in the detergent solution. Wring out the excess moisture.

    • 3

Wash the Saltillo tiles around your toilet as well as the remaining bathroom floor. Rinse the sponge frequently.

    • 4

Apply more diluted detergent solution and continue to wipe down the tiles until the entire floor surface has been washed.

    • 5

Wet a clean cloth with warm water. Wring it out. Rinse the Saltillo tiles by wiping them off with the damp cloth.

Wipe down the Saltillo tiles around the base of your toilet with the bleach solution so the surface is only damp, not wet. Allow the bleach solution to air dry, which gives the bleach time to sanitize the tiles.
